Do you like zombies? How about the uncertainty that comes with attempting to ferry your family across a raging river? Well, have I got the game for you; the premise for Die2Nite is as follows: every night at midnit, you and 40 other players must cooperatively fend off a zombie horde. Instead of fighting them off as you would in an FPS, however, in die Die2Nite you build up your town’s defenses during the day, which then affects how well your town holds up during the horde.
This is where the Oregon Trail aspect of the game. During the day you can do a variety of tasks: from exploring the surrounding wasteland for supplies, to repairing your town and upgrading it’s defenses, and even drinking yourself blind with alcohol to escape the horrors of a zombie apocalypse. The great thing is that if one of the 40 members of the community is not pulling his weight, or is hogging the supplies, then the community can vote to banish that member to their certain death.
All of this is accomplished through some incredibly well done and detailed adventure-game style graphics that do a magnificent job of both keeping you informed of all aspects of the game while instilling a great sense of atmosphere.
